On April 19, 2012, the Brooklyn Navy Yard Development Corporation, Downtown Brooklyn Partnership, and DUMBO Improvement District convened a Task Force of community and industry leaders to brainstorm about policies and strategies to support the growth of the tech and creative sectors in the Tech Triangle. The meeting, hosted by HUGE, Inc. at 45 Main Street in DUMBO, included principle stakeholders in the fields of technology and innovation, real estate, utility and infrastructure, as well as leaders in the academic community in Brooklyn.
The ideas generated at the meeting will form the backbone of future analysis and planning efforts regarding the development of a cohesive tech and creative hub in the Brooklyn Tech Triangle. Meeting participants identified the need to supplement existing public transportation between the three communities as a primary concern.Firms and academic institutions discussed strategies to continue to update college curricula in tech-related degrees to ensure graduates meet the labor needs of technology firms.
